OK. Ok ok ok ok. I'm a terrible blogger. Lo siento.
ANYWAYS since I only have one week left here I'm going to briefly summarize the recent past events, and then later this week I'll upload pictures.
-Earlier this week Mike and I celebrated 4 years by going out to a vegetarian restaurant. This was the most amazing (and only) four course meal I've ever had (definitely pictures of that later). After we ate we strolled down Las Ramblas and watched all of the street performers.
-We all went to a small bar called "Chupitos" (which means "shot" in spanish) and it was one of the craziest things I've seen thus far. It's this TINY TINY little bar which serves theme and ritual based shots for 2 euro. There was a GIANT black board with random names written for different shots and you just chose them and ordered. One called the Harry Potter involved a lot of fire and sparks (details on this later with pictures). There was another called Finding Nemo which was a shot of liquor topped with an enormous amount of whipped cream and an m&m thrown of top. You were to take the shot and find the m&m in your mouth later. Another one was taken by putting pop rocks in your mouth, taking the shot, and swishing it around in your mouth until it became too explosive to swallow. Let me emphasize THE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF FIRE THESE ALL ENTAILED. Another one called the Pulp Fiction was taken through a syringe and a straw. Long story short, this place was really cool.
-On Thursday I gave a 20 minute presentation on Sex, Segregation, Jews and Christians in Medieval Iberia. I'm under the impression that it went very well.
-Saturday and Sunday were spent on an excursion to Roses (Costa Brava) about 2 and a half hours north of Barca. We spend most of it on the ocean, one day we rented a paddle boat with a giant slide on top, and today we rode a catamaran into a cove and dove off of the boat and swam for an hour. We spend all of today on an island which consisted of ZERO VEGETARIAN OPTIONS. I basically starved for the past two days...ughhh this is getting really frustrating. The pictures here are great...but the food is seriously terrible.
Ok I have a composition due in Spanish tomorrow that I haven't even started yet and I reek of the Mediterranean Sea. But I promise promise that I'll post some pictures soon.

I can't believe you only have a week left! How about when you land in NY you come up here!
ReplyDeleteah how I wish I could. Maybe if you still lived in Manhattan that 5 hour layover would be worth the travel for. I'll come to Buffalo if you want <3
