Vale!

Hola hola hola!

Today we arrived in Barcelona (after a grueling 9 hour bus ride) and met our host families. Greatly to my surprise my family is AMAZIIINGG. There's a woman with 2 sons and her boyfriend. They are all vegetarian and she practices yoga and meditation.
Once we arrived they asked if we wanted to walk to the mall and we agreed. Now, knowing that Barcelona is almost the largest fashion capital in the world only second to Milan should've prepared me for what I was about to see...but it most definitely did not. Holyjesusgod the people here dress AMAZING. Laurie (my roommate) and I walked from store to store in complete awe. The shoes....the shoes are unbelievable. We came home around 9:30pm and the host mother cooked us delicious tofu and vegetables/pasta. All of my concerns were put to rest as soon as that glorious tofu came out of that kitchen. They told us about a couple of really good vegi restaraunts in the area that weren't expensive. (Ok ok ok enough about vegetarian food).
Tomorrow a couple of people are meeting at the university downtown and I'm guessing we're just going to explore the city. On Monday we take a language placement exam (written and oral ick) and on Tuesday we start classes. I'm finding myself speaking in Spanglish more and more without even thinking about it which makes me think I should do decent on the exam.
But no more university talk it's time for the fun part, pictures!

  2. Oooh little r! I'm totally hoping she'll teach me to cook, although she doesn't really like us being in the kitchen. And you can wait to shop here yourself when you come visit my house since I'm moving here. (And then you'll move here with me soon too) :D

  3. I want a new wardrobe from Spain too...I bet even the pregnant ladies there dress fabulous. Um, and if you could bring me back a huge sangria, that would be lovely. Oh, but wait...you aren't coming back are you?? Can't say I blame you!
